                                                                                                                     Reading at home

Reading At Home is something all parents should do with their children

As a primary school teacher I have seen many kids excel, and I think one of the major factors is good study habits. I’ve seen kids with a spare ten

minutes do some reading, homework or exercises. They don’t waste any time and they like reading at home.

And that is what you should be doing when you have a few spare minutes together at home. Grab a book and start reading or pointing out some new words and saying them, so your child can match the phonic sound with the written word.

Have A look At Three Free Videos About How to Teach Your Child To Read

Video 1: Introduction To Montessori Reading.

Video 2: How To Make Sandpaper Letters.

Video 3: How To Teach Reading Using Sandpaper Letters

As has been said many times before 'a picture tells a thousand words' and these free videos do just that. They are easier to understand as you can see how to make sandpaper letters then how to teach using them.

Some experts mention that the children will follow the parents, so if the child sees her mother or father reading at home they will also. Nowadays I think that is debatable. Before the computer I would agree with that, but the computer has changed everything. When we, the parents are reading the computer, do our children see us as reading or playing on the computer.

And these days there are many different things to entertain our children other than a good book. To keep children interested in reading we have to read very interesting books to them. And we have to read with animation-- to make it more lively-- so our kids will want us to finish the story.
