**Most parents introduction to homeschooling is when homeschooling kindergarten children**

When home schooling kindergarten kids it is better to forget about educating them and let them learn by playing. It has been proven many times by educational experts that kids who have been through a structured education system at kindergarten, do no better than kids who

spent the whole time playing. In some cases the children are not as good as the playmate kids when older.

It is better to bring in educational toys as opposed to a blackboard

Kids are not designed to sit in front of a blackboard for long periods of time. They want to play, run, jump or just do silly things. When they are young they are building up their bodies as well as their minds so let them move. To teach numbers throw a dice, show your child the dots and say the number, then throw it again and let your kid run and bring it back.

For learning to read I use the Montessori sandpaper letters.

Kids love the feel of the sandpaper and they will trace as many letters as they can. Let them, you just phonically say the letter sound, and show your kid the correct way to write the letters. Kids will learn better doing this that sitting in front of a blackboard. Buy toys and books or get them second hand from the Salvation Army shops. That way when you are finished with them you can donate them back.

To introduce nature buy the plastic animal, insect and plant toys. There are toys for everything, forget the advertised toys there is very little educational value in them.
