                                                                                            first grade homework help

First grade homework help is a lot easier than college homework help.

The main problem with first grade homework help is usually: are you helping with what your child needs to learn or, are you bringing in the

heavy duty stuff too early. When your kids are young, stick to the easy stuff and keep it simple.

For reading they just have to learn a few sight words and I usually throw in a few phonics.

Kids who are not exceptional learners need phonics despite what a lot of educators think. The bright kids and the genus kids who can learn anything will learn to read no matter what, but the rest of them need a bit extra. And that extra bit is phonics

Video 2: How To Make Sandpaper Letters.

Video 3: How To Teach Reading Using Sandpaper Letters

As has been said many times before 'a picture tells a thousand words' and these free videos do just that. They are easier to understand as you can see how to make sandpaper letters then how to teach using them.

I use this amazing Montessori based Reading and Writing phonics program and they kids love it. But the best part is, it can be used with the school textbooks. Your children can trace the words they are learning at school with the sandpaper letters.

Don’t try to over teach your kids as kids have this amazing ability to forget everything so just keep repeating everything.

That means they learn the same words everyday with a few new words thrown in for added variety. Kids don’t mind they love it when they know things. You can see their faces light up when they get something right. For math I just throw a couple of those soft toy dice around and get the kid to add or subtract the numbers.

If that is too difficult I just get them to say the numbers. If your kids throw the dice make sure there is a special area to throw or there will be dice going in all directions. For more resources about homework see our Homework Help Page.
